I was reluctant to use a broker, however you absolutely over delivered

Now that we are finally settling in to our new home (and building a solid list of repair jobs and improvements) we can relax a little and take time to reflect on the process. I was somewhat reluctant to use a broker after our previous experience with Auckland Home Loans in 2006 where we had to pay late payment penalties after it was discovered that the bank we had received approval from had a policy of not lending more than 80% on duplex apartments. For this transaction both my wife and I were extremely busy and I decided that it was at least worth enquiring after we were unable to secure funding from Kiwibank. I have to admit that after our first meeting I was doubtful that you would be able to deliver what we discussed – however you absolutely over delivered and have transformed my opinion of financial service providers. I give the following reasons for this transformation:

• You understood the complexities of our tax position and worked with our accountant to minimise the paper work for our accounts throughout the process;
• We never played phone tag with you – we always had a backup contact who was aware of all the issues and what we were waiting for, also you were very courteous in asking for permission to contact people on our behalf;
• You provided advice and recommendations that absolutely saved us money and avoided many subsequent issues (I have also provided positive feedback to both ASB and Kiwibank for their efforts in the settlement process which was very much last minute stuff);
• You made clear what we needed to do to assist the process and reminded us and followed up on action points to meet the tight dead-line – this was what saved us a lot of money in penalty payments when complications arose regarding the outdated paperwork we supplied for our family trust.
